Antique Kitchen Hutch

The Story

I eyed this antique hutch for a whole year before bringing it home from my favorite shop- Back Porch Treasures in Troy Idaho! This hutch includes 2 metal bins and a cutting board. Since I use the hutch in my kitchen, I covered the unfinished counter with polka dotted oil cloth. This triples the fun and makes clean up a breeze. Decorating my hutch for holidays is so much fun and it is now my favorite find!

It's nice to hear the story that goes along with it! I would have to say you are lucky it didn't sell since it took you awhile to pull the trigger on her! I've done the same thing with other things. You win some and you lose some. How neat that you decorate for different holidays!

I love that hutch! I really like the oilcloth you used on it and all your other fun vintage goodies there too. Glad it was still there waiting for you.

I'm glad I waited because the price went down and then I was eventually told I could make an offer!

This piece has such a great feel to it.

I have a similar piece that I grew up with on the family farm. No one remembers how old it is or where it originally came from. It has been well used. I have it in my kitchen and need to do something with it. I love your idea of using the oilcloth, as the surface of mine is very rough from generations of use. I've just stumbled across this site and haven't posted any photos yet.

Hi, Gail! Yes, the counter on this is splintery in places. I don't like things to be THAT primitive. I wan't able to place a date on this piece but I know it's OLD!
